Photo Book Noir should work for everyone who turns their photos into books. Here's what the app supports on iPhone, iPad and Mac, what we're still working on, and how to tell us when something gets in your way.
iPhone and iPad
Text follows your Text Size setting, all the way to the largest accessibility sizes. Labels wrap onto more lines rather than shrinking. The text on your book's pages keeps its print size. On the Mac, use View ▸ Bigger, Smaller or Actual Size.
iPhone and iPad
Turn on Increase Contrast and text lifts to at least 7:1 against its background, with icons and lines at 3:1. Glass and translucent panels turn solid, as they also do with Reduce Transparency.
iPhone, iPad and Mac
The app is dark by design, on every screen, so your photos are what stands out.
iPhone, iPad and Mac
Nothing relies on color alone. Photo groups are numbered, locked items show a lock, and storage warnings carry an icon and a message.
iPhone, iPad and Mac
With Reduce Motion on, changes happen at once, without sliding or springing. Gentle fades and progress bars stay, so you can still see that something happened.
Captions and Audio Descriptions don't apply: the app has no video or audio content.
We've added VoiceOver labels and rotors, and given every drag a named action, so photos and pages can be moved without dragging. Voice Control uses the same actions. We're testing them on devices now.
We'll list VoiceOver and Voice Control as supported here and on the App Store once every common task works with them. Increase Contrast on the Mac is in the same state.
This site uses real headings and page landmarks, labels its buttons and controls, and shows a visible focus ring when you move through it with a keyboard. With Reduce Motion on, the video at the top of the home page holds still.
We aim for WCAG 2.2 level AA. The site hasn't had a formal audit yet, so if something falls short, please tell us.
If anything in the app or on this site doesn't work for you, email us or find us on Discord. When you're signed in to the app, you can also use the speech-bubble button in the toolbar ("Send us a complaint or a suggestion").
Tell us your device and the setting you use, and we'll look into it.
